Larry Cohan: Hi. My name is Larry Cohan. I manage our firm's Toxic Tort Litigation Department. A toxic tort is a claim that an individual can make because they've suffered an injury from exposure to a chemical.
One of the classic toxic torts arises out of exposure to asbestos. Asbestos is mined from the ground and used in insulation products. Unfortunately, when people breathe it in, they develop lung disease. For nearly 25 years, we here at Anapol Schwartz have been representing victims of exposure to asbestos.
Many people don't know that asbestos is a latent disease. You can have exposure 20, 30 or 40 years ago and develop disease today. Even though the U.S. government banned asbestos in the late 1970s, our clients who worked in many trades in the '50s, '60s and '70s are still coming to us today with problems caused by asbestos. Despite what you may have read in the news or heard in the media, asbestos claims are still valid and being pursued every day.
There are no class actions. Individuals have their own cases, and we're here to handle your case if you need us.
The government has proposed legislation to deal with the asbestos problem, but nothing has been passed yet. Over the last 25 years we have represented literally thousands of victims of asbestos-related lung disease, including lung cancer as well as the rare condition called mesothelioma, which is a cancer that's caused only by asbestos.
If you or someone you know may have worked with asbestos in any construction, building, or other trade back in the 1950s, '60s, or '70s, you may have a problem related to asbestos. A simple x-ray can determine whether or not there is a problem. I urge you, if you feel you've had exposure, to get tested. Have an x-ray. We here at Anapol Schwartz are here to help you, if in fact your doctor tells you that asbestos is causing a problem for you or a loved one. We continue to represent victims of exposure to asbestos, and we are here to help you if asbestos has caused a problem for you or anyone you love.
